Newsletter 05.10.12

We all enjoyed the visit from the author Adam Guillain on Wednesday. He shared stories with the children and demonstrated in the workshops how story telling can enhance writing. Assembly stories may never be the same again! We have focused on National Book Week throughout the school with the children engaged in many activities related to books and stories based upon the theme of heroes; they have all enjoyed dressing as their hero for a day.

Thank you to everybody who contributed to the Harvest Festival collection. We collected an amazing eleven boxes of food for the ‘Open Door’ charity which have now been collected. Your support was greatly appreciated by the charity. We were pleased to welcome Mr Fellows to lead the Harvest Festival assembly.

Well done to the Learners of the Week, we are very proud of you all.

Bag2School Clothing Collection Monday 8thOctober 2012

Please return your bag filled with your unwanted textiles to the front of the school, by 9am this Monday 8th October, for our clothing collection.

Remember you can fill it with any unwanted textiles - this can include adults’ and children’s clothes, shoes (tied together please), hats, belts, bags, soft toys, curtains and bedding (not duvets or pillows). If you fill the donation bag and still have more, then you can use any other bag to donate your items. Don’t forget to ask grandparents, friends and neighbours to have a sort out as well!

For every kg of textiles donated we will receive 50p and as well as raising funds for our school, we will also be helping the environment by diverting unwanted textiles away from landfill.

Many thanks indeed for helping us with this unique fundraising opportunity.
